Suno Launches Spark Incubator Program for Independent Artists
Suno announced a new incubator program called Spark on Thursday, designed to provide grants, mentorship, and distribution opportunities for unsigned singers, songwriters, and producers aged 18 and older. Selected individuals will receive grants ranging from thousands to tens of thousands of dollars, additional marketing funds, invitations to songwriting camps, and feedback on their work. Artists will retain creative and commercial rights over work created through the program and can choose their own distributor. The announcement comes as Suno faces active litigation from Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment, and criticism from artists including SZA, who on Instagram accused producer Diplo of being an investor and helping train models on writers and producers’ work. A Suno spokesperson declined to comment, pointing to a LinkedIn post from chief product officer Jack Brody stating that training metadata does not include artists’ names and cannot replicate trained material.
