Meta launches AI Mode on Facebook using public posts for search answers
Meta announced Monday it is rolling out new AI features on Facebook, including an "AI Mode" that uses Meta AI to generate answers from public posts across the platform, including Groups and Reels. Users can ask questions in plain language and receive synthesized answers based on public discussions, rather than scrolling through search results. This follows Meta's quiet launch last month of Forum, a Reddit-style app with its own AI "Ask" tab that pulls answers from Facebook Groups discussions. The company also added editing tools for video montages and AI-powered photo presets that let users change clothes, hairstyles, and accessories, such as virtually wearing team jerseys in Stories. These updates follow earlier AI features introduced in February and March, including animated profile pictures and an AI Marketplace reply tool. Earlier this month, Meta launched an AI assistant for creators offering personalized suggestions on posting times and audience comments. The company recently launched global subscription plans for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp starting at $3.99 a month, with additional AI-related subscription tiers reportedly on the way.
