House Passes $70 Billion Bill to Fund ICE, Border Patrol for Three Years

7 verified8 unconfirmed

The House voted 214-212 on Tuesday to pass a $70 billion funding bill for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol, sending the measure to President Trump after the Senate approved it last week. The bill provides three years of funding through the budget reconciliation process, which allowed Republicans to bypass a Democratic filibuster. The legislation comes after a months-long standoff over immigration enforcement policy following the fatal shooting of two protesters by federal officers in Minneapolis earlier this year. Democrats had sought reforms including requiring judicial warrants for home entries and prohibiting officers from wearing masks, but none were included in the final package. Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska was the only Senate Republican to vote against the measure. The funding is intended to cover operations through fiscal year 2029 and includes no stipulations sought by Democrats.
