Matchmakers Report Rise in Requests for Traditional Wives From Wealthy Men

8 reported

According to a WIRED report, professional matchmakers say wealthy male clients are increasingly asking to be set up with traditional, religious, conservative women, often referred to as "trad wives." Matchmaker Blaine Anderson, who runs Dating by Blaine, charges between $30,000 and $50,000 for her services and documented one client, "Daniel," who sought a younger woman from the Midwest in a caregiving profession but not a doctor, with specific physical preferences. Anderson says Daniel did not find a match. Erika Kaplan, vice president of membership at Three Day Rule, which charges $25,000 to $100,000 for its VIP package, reports hearing terms like "faith," "traditional," and "family-oriented" from men in sectors like finance, even in New York. Julie Ferman, a personal matchmaker and dating coach, says she sees more men asking for women "who are feminine by nature," though they often skew liberal. The article notes a Kings College London survey of 23,000 people worldwide found nearly 31 percent of Gen Z men agreed a wife should obey her husband, and 33 percent agreed she should trust him for important decisions. A study in Psychology of Women Quarterly from March found men who prefer a stay-at-home partner are more likely to exhibit "hostile sexism." Anderson notes that some clients who request trad wives may not actually be best matched with them, citing a Dallas businessman who found success with a partner who did not meet his initial criteria.
