Kino Rebelde has acquired international sales rights for "September Afternoon," a film by writer-director Nicolaas Schmidt that will have its world premiere in the Cineasti del Presente competition section at the Locarno Film Festival. The film follows a couple who refuse to accept the end of summer and head to the coast for two afternoons together, where they encounter a woman they know loosely and struggle against the elements. María Vera, head of Kino Rebelde, described the film as a "fascinating provocation" that opens a door to the power of simplicity with critical spirit, delicate humor, and sensitivity. Producer Maxi Haslberger of Amerikafilm called the work unique for its combination of long shoots and loops, describing it as a "cinema of doze" experience. The film marks Schmidt's return to Locarno, where his mid-length film "First Time [The Time for All but Sunset – Violet]" premiered in 2021 and received a Pardi di Domani Special Mention.
