Zigart fractures jaw in Tour de Suisse crash
Slovenian cyclist Urska Zigart broke her jaw in a crash during stage two of the Tour de Suisse Femmes in Locarno on Thursday, according to her team. The accident occurred at high speed over a speedbump near the start of the final kilometer, causing Zigart to lose control and crash onto the tarmac. Several other riders fell while trying to avoid her as she lay motionless in the road. Her team, AG Insurance-Soudal, confirmed she was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a fractured jaw, with no other injuries detected. The team stated they are evaluating next steps for her treatment and recovery. Zigart’s partner, four-time Tour de France winner Tadej Pogacar, was preparing to start the men’s stage at the same location. Slovenian media reported that Zigart was conscious after the crash and later spoke with Pogacar, who leads the men’s race general classification after two stages.
