Trump approval rating drops to 36% in new NPR/PBS News/Marist poll
A new NPR/PBS News/Marist poll shows President Trump’s job approval rating has fallen to 36%, described as the lowest of both his terms in office dating back to 2017. The poll also found that 6 in 10 Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the economy, including 22% of Republicans, 65% of independents, and 93% of Democrats. The report features a Georgia voter who backed Trump in 2016, 2020, and 2024 but now says she wants him out of office, citing high gas prices and grocery costs. A Democratic voter in Oregon said her family is affected by rising prices and that things are not getting better for the average person. A third of Americans say gas prices are a major strain on their household budget, and more than 2 in 10 cite costs as a reason for not taking a summer vacation. However, a 68-year-old Trump supporter in Minnesota reported that business is good in his vacation area, with resorts full and out-of-state license plates common. He said people expect a quick fix but that it will take time, possibly two administrations.
