Tay Keith’s Family Confirms Producer’s Death at 29, Cites ‘Cultural Force’ Legacy
The family of chart-topping hip-hop producer Tay Keith has confirmed his death at age 29, releasing a statement that described him as a visionary and cultural force. Keith, born BryTavious Chambers, was found unresponsive in his Nashville apartment during a welfare check by Metro Nashville Police on Thursday, June 18. His cause of death has not been reported. The producer had 11 top 10 hits and four No. 1s on the Hot 100, including Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” and Drake’s “First Person Shooter,” and held this decade’s record for most No. 1s on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with six. Born in Memphis and working out of Nashville, he founded Drumatized, a label and creative hub serving both hip-hop and country artists. His family noted he was a proud graduate and honorary professor of Middle Tennessee State University, an active mentor, and a supporter of mental health awareness and cancer-related causes in honor of his late mother. Memorial arrangements will be shared at a later date, and the family has asked for privacy and prayers.
