Sooryavanshi Wins Multiple IPL Awards; Kohli Leads RCB to Title Defence
According to a Sky Sports report, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi won multiple individual awards during the 2026 Indian Premier League season, including Most Valuable Player and Emerging Player, despite his team Rajasthan Royals failing to reach the final. In Sunday’s title match in Ahmedabad, Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 75 off 42 balls as Royal Challengers Bengaluru chased down 156 to defeat Gujarat Titans by five wickets. The win gave RCB a second consecutive IPL title, making them the third team to achieve back-to-back championships. Sooryavanshi, a 15-year-old, also claimed the Orange Cap as the league’s top run-scorer with 776 runs in 16 innings, including 72 sixes. Kohli said in his post-match interview that young players push him to improve his game. RCB bowler Josh Hazlewood described the team as a tight unit and expressed confidence in a potential three-peat.
