Magic: The Gathering Reveals Three 2027 Sets, MagicCon Expands to Four Events

Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast announced three mainline Magic: The Gathering sets for 2027 and an expanded MagicCon schedule during MagicCon: Amsterdam on Friday. The 2027 sets begin a new story arc in the Magic Multiverse and include “Nauctis: The Sunken Realm,” “Kamigawa: Titanbreach,” and “Zhalfir.” These will be joined by three currently unannounced Universes Beyond sets releasing in April, August, and November of 2027. Wizards of the Coast also stated that the MagicCon schedule will expand to four events worldwide in 2027, with locations in Detroit, Tokyo, Las Vegas, and Amsterdam. The next major Magic set is an August release inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit,” which will be further unveiled this weekend at MagicCon: Amsterdam. Additionally, Wizards revealed a new look at October’s “Reality Fracture,” the conclusion to a story arc that began with “Wilds of Eldraine” in 2023.

The three mainline 2027 sets are “Nauctis: The Sunken Realm” (Feb. 5), “Kamigawa: Titanbreach” (June 4), and “Zhalfir” (Oct. 1).
Three unannounced Universes Beyond sets will release in April, August, and November 2027.
“Nauctis: The Sunken Realm” features merfolk, seals, homarids, and deities in an undersea plane with two warring kingdoms.
“Kamigawa: Titanbreach” involves a clash between the planes Ikoria and Kamigawa.
“Zhalfir” features the kingdom of Zhalfir reentering the multiverse, including the character Teferi Akosa.
The next big Magic set is an August release inspired by “The Hobbit,” to be further unveiled at MagicCon: Amsterdam.
MagicCon: Amsterdam runs from today through Sunday; the final 2026 event is in Atlanta from Nov. 13-15.
In 2027, MagicCon expands to four events: Detroit (Feb. 26-28), Tokyo (May 14-16), Las Vegas (Aug. 27-29), and Amsterdam (Dec. 3-5).
Wizards also revealed a new look at October’s “Reality Fracture,” concluding a story arc from “Wilds of Eldraine” (2023).
