Lloyds customers face payment issues due to IT glitch
Lloyds Banking Group has apologized after thousands of customers were unable to make payments or send money due to an IT glitch. According to Downdetector, customers started noticing problems shortly after 11am on Wednesday, with issues affecting multiple brands: Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Scottish Widows and MBNA. More than three hours after the outage began, some customers were still experiencing problems with mobile apps and websites. Some customers said they needed to send money, while others reported being unable to access accounts or buy lunch and groceries. Some affected customers argued they should be compensated for the inconvenience. Responding on the X platform, Lloyds and Halifax acknowledged the issues and apologized, stating they were working to fix it. Shortly before 3pm, the group issued a statement saying all services were back up and running, apologizing for the inconvenience and advising customers still experiencing issues to wait a few minutes and try again.
