Amy Adams Rejected Graphic SNL Sketch to Protect Young Enchanted Fans

6 reported

Amy Adams said on "Late Night With Seth Meyers" that while hosting "Saturday Night Live" in 2008, she turned down a "graphic" sketch idea from Andy Samberg. The sketch involved a couple where the man gets bitten by a spider and asks for a graphic last wish. Adams explained she was aware of the young girls watching her film "Enchanted," which had been released four months earlier. She did not want to be "the princess singing about that particular act." In 2024, Samberg also told Meyers about the cut sketch and said he was "really impressed" that Adams had the forethought to take responsibility for her image. Samberg recalled that shortly after the decision, a mother and her little girl approached Adams, and the girl's face confirmed Adams was right. Samberg said he learned from the experience that Adams had an obligation to those kids and took it seriously.
