Salesforce announced on Monday that it will acquire AI customer service platform Fin for $3.6 billion. Fin, formerly known as Intercom, offers an AI agent that can resolve customer queries across channels including live chat, WhatsApp, SMS, phone calls, and Slack. Salesforce stated it intends to use Fin’s team and technology to improve Agentforce, its existing enterprise platform for building custom AI agents. The transaction is expected to close in the last quarter of Salesforce’s 2027 fiscal year, which falls in early 2027 due to the company’s financial reporting schedule. Fin co-founder and CEO Eoghan McCabe wrote on X that he will remain CEO and that little will practically change for customers.
