Norwegian Zombie Comedy ‘Grandmonster’ Wins Top Award at Fantasia Market
According to a single-source report from Variety, Norwegian director Vegard Dahle's zombie comedy "Grandmonster" won the top Outpost Award at the Fantasia Festival's Frontières Co-Production Market. The award includes CAD$15,000 (US$10,637) in post-production services. The film, about an American dropout who unintentionally triggers a zombie outbreak at a remote Norwegian nursing home, was presented with deadpan humor by Dahle and producer Jon Vatne at a July 22 pitching event. The project was one of 20 titles in the Frontières official selection and received a boisterous response from an audience of 300 delegates from 24 countries. Five other awards were also handed out at the market's closing cocktail on July 25.
