White House reports Trump in ‘excellent health’ after physical

A letter from President Trump’s physician released late Friday stated the president is in “excellent health” following a physical earlier in the week at Walter Reed National Military Hospital. The visit was his third known checkup at the military hospital since returning to the White House. Capt. Sean Barbabella, a Navy captain serving as physician to the president, said Mr. Trump demonstrated strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function. The letter noted the president weighs 238 pounds with a blood pressure of 105 over 71, compared to 224 pounds and 128 over 74 at his physical last April. Barbabella wrote that Mr. Trump is “fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.” The doctor also observed scarring on the president’s right ear consistent with a prior gunshot injury and slight lower leg swelling with improvement from last year. Mr. Trump scored 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, described as within normal limits.
