Vance: Iran nuclear deal timeline ranges from week to months
Vice President JD Vance stated that the United States is "very close" to reaching a long-term deal addressing Iran's nuclear program, but said the agreement could come next week or months from now. In an interview airing on "CBS Sunday Morning," Vance said the goal is a deal that is good for the U.S. economically and that deals with the Iranian nuclear program for the long term. He said the deal could "absolutely" come before November's midterm elections, adding that "we're going to know a lot before the midterm elections." President Trump also suggested a shorter timeline, saying early Tuesday that negotiations were in their "final throes" with a deal possible in "two or three days." Vance told CBS News he did not believe the Iranians were stringing President Trump along, noting that their system takes a long time to reach consensus. The interview is scheduled to air on June 14 at 9 a.m. on CBS stations and streaming on Paramount+.
