Trump administration expands ‘Product of USA’ label to 10 more companies

7 reported

The Trump administration announced on Friday that 10 additional companies will place a "Product of USA" label on their meat and poultry products that originate from U.S. farms and ranches. The initiative, led by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, began earlier this year to help consumers identify American meat producers at grocery stores. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins stated that the label gives consumers confidence that the products come from animals born, raised, harvested, and processed in the United States. The USDA finalized the updated standard for what qualifies as American meat in 2024, changing past rules that critics said allowed imported meat to be labeled as U.S.-made if processed domestically. The 10 new companies adopting the voluntary label include Harris Ranch, One World Beef, Upper Iowa Beef, American Foods Group, Agri Beef, FPL Food, Hadrick Farms, Fort Worth Meat Packers, Wholestone Farms, and Harrison's Poultry. Last month, the USDA announced the Strengthening Processing for U.S. Ranchers Program, which will provide up to $500 million to help eligible small- and mid-sized beef processors expand domestic operations.
