Notion to Shut Down Notion Mail by September 22 as Users Shift to AI Agents
Notion has announced it will discontinue its email product, Notion Mail, on September 22, 2026. The productivity company cited a shift in user behavior, noting that more than half of Notion Mail users now manage their email through AI agents rather than opening the inbox directly. Notion Mail was released in April 2025, following the company’s acquisition of the encrypted productivity startup Skiff in February 2024. The company stated that its email-based AI agents will continue to operate after the shutdown. Notion assured users that their email history stored in Gmail will not be affected.
