New York Sues 3M, DuPont Over ‘Forever Chemicals’ in Consumer Goods
New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit Thursday against 3M, DuPont, and several other chemical and agricultural companies over the sale of toxic PFAS chemicals, often called “forever chemicals.” The lawsuit, filed in state court in Albany, accuses the companies of knowingly selling harmful substances for use in consumer products while hiding the environmental and health risks from the public for decades. PFAS have been linked to an increased risk of certain cancers and developmental delays in children. The complaint seeks to force the companies to fund environmental cleanup efforts in New York and to warn consumers about their products. The named defendants include 3M, DuPont de Nemours, The Chemours Company, Corteva, and related entities. None of the companies immediately responded to requests for comment.
