Meta Removes AI Image Feature After Criticism Over Opt-Out Policy
Meta has discontinued an artificial intelligence feature that allowed users to generate images by referencing public Instagram accounts, following days of criticism. The feature, introduced on Tuesday, used Meta’s new Muse Image model to let users manipulate images of a person by tagging their Instagram account. A Meta spokesperson stated the company’s intent was to provide a useful creative tool and give users control over whether their public content could be referenced. The company acknowledged feedback that the feature “missed the mark” and confirmed it is no longer available.
