Mark Tame, a mental health advocate and NHS care coordinator, has died of lung cancer at age 61, according to an obituary published by The Guardian. Tame spent his career caring for others, working for charities including Mind in Bristol and London, and most recently at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as a care coordinator after the Covid-19 pandemic. He was born in Wivenhoe, Essex, to Anne Tame, a telephonist, and John Matthews, a telephone engineer, who met at Bletchley Park after the war. Tame studied social politics at Bristol University, graduating in 1996, and began his healthcare career in Bristol. He later moved to London to help his sister Lynn raise her two daughters after his brother-in-law died unexpectedly in the early 2000s. During the pandemic, he returned to healthcare, administering vaccines for the NHS and working as a home health coordinator for older people, as well as at a London clinic specializing in prostate cancer. He is survived by his sister Lynn and nieces Holly and Millie.
