Brown University professor reports AI cheating in math econ class
A professor at Brown University has uncovered what he describes as the largest known cheating scandal at the university and in the Ivy League. Professor Roberto Serrano, the Harrison S. Kravis University Professor of Economics, detected fraud in his advanced undergraduate mathematical economics course, ECON 1170. He has conclusive evidence that at least 50 students cheated on the March midterm exam. When Serrano reported the case to high-ranking Brown officials, he received a cold reaction. The university president offered absolute silence, and the dean did not comment until Serrano took the case before the Academic Code Committee. The story was reported by the blog Anecdotal and cited by Marginal Revolution.
