Beaker Street science photography prize finalists announced
The Beaker Street science photography prize has announced its 12 finalists, whose works will be exhibited at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery during the Beaker Street festival from 6 to 17 August. The finalist images include depictions of newborn fish, a native wasp, and satellite trails across the night sky. One featured photograph by Ryan Shan shows the mushroom species Mycena interrupta growing on decaying wood. The article notes that as a saprotrophic fungus, this mushroom plays a role in breaking down organic matter and returning nutrients to the ecosystem. The exhibition is scheduled to run during the festival dates.
