Beaker Street science photography finalists announced
The Beaker Street science photography prize has announced its 12 finalists, whose images will be exhibited at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery during the Beaker Street festival from 6 to 17 August. The finalists include photographs of newborn fish, a native wasp, satellite trails across the night sky, and the blue mushroom species Mycena interrupta growing on decaying wood. The mushroom, a saprotrophic fungus, plays a vital role in breaking down organic matter and returning nutrients to the ecosystem. The announcement was made on 8 June 2026, according to a single-source report from The Guardian.
