Warner Bros. Film Chiefs to Speak at Toronto Market Summit
The Toronto International Film Festival’s inaugural market, TIFF: The Market, announced that Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group co-chairs and CEOs Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca will headline the Speakers’ Summit. The executives will participate in an in-depth conversation on Sept. 11 with TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey as part of the Market’s Dialogues program, for which Variety is the media partner. According to the Market, they will discuss the evolving role of studios in a global marketplace, identifying award-winning content, and opportunities and challenges shaping the entertainment landscape. The Market reported that movies from Abdy and De Luca, including multiple Academy Award-winners like “Sinners,” “Weapons,” and “One Battle After Another,” topped domestic and global box offices for 15 and 16 weeks respectively last year, earning more than $4 billion worldwide. Bailey expressed excitement about welcoming the executives, noting their combination of creative excellence, strategic vision, and business leadership. Abdy and De Luca stated they are thrilled to participate in TIFF’s inaugural Market and to continue bringing ambitious films to audiences. Additional speakers and program details for the Dialogues series and full Speakers’ Summit, supported by Ontario Creates, will be announced in the coming weeks, with TIFF: The Market taking place Sept. 10-16.
