Apple unveils bill-splitting feature using iPhone camera and Siri
Apple has introduced a new feature at WWDC 2026 that allows users to split restaurant bills by pointing their iPhone camera at a receipt. The feature, part of Siri mode in the Camera app, makes each item on the receipt selectable so users can track who ordered what and send separate Apple Cash payment requests. Apple VP of Software Sebastien Marineau-Mes demonstrated the feature during the presentation, saying users can select what they ordered to split the tab with Apple Cash. The article notes that similar bill-splitting was already available with apps like SplitWise or Tab, but those products never gained widespread popularity. Apple’s version is described as more organic because it works within native apps like iMessage, requiring no additional downloads. The article also mentions another Siri in Camera feature that can estimate nutrition information about food when pointing the camera at a meal.
