10 reported

Christopher Nolan's thirteenth film, "The Odyssey," an adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek poem, has debuted to $264 million at the worldwide box office, setting the director's global opening weekend record. The film, which is the first narrative feature shot entirely in IMAX, stars Matt Damon as the Greek hero Odysseus on his decade-long journey home after the Trojan War. Nolan told The Hollywood Reporter that he sees parallels between "The Odyssey" and his previous film "Oppenheimer," noting that both explore themes of regret about influence on war. The director also discussed how becoming a dog owner a few years ago prepared him to make what he calls "the ultimate dog movie." Nolan stated that "The Odyssey" whets his appetite for making a horror film, but he believes the genre requires "an amazing idea" from a conceptual point of view. He also confirmed an upcoming re-release of his film "The Prestige."
