Kevin Keegan, England and Liverpool football legend, dies at 75
The death of Kevin Keegan, regarded as one of the greatest football players of his generation, was announced in a statement released by his family on Monday. The statement said Keegan had been battling cancer and was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments. Born in Doncaster, South Yorkshire on February 14, 1951, Keegan was signed by Liverpool manager Bill Shankly in 1971 and went on to win multiple titles with the club. He later played for Hamburg in the Bundesliga, where he was twice named European Footballer of the Year, and returned to England with Southampton and Newcastle. Keegan also managed Newcastle, Fulham, England, and Manchester City before retiring from management.
