Poll finds most Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of economy

8 reported

A new NPR/PBS News/Marist poll shows that only a third of Americans approve of how President Trump is handling the economy, three points lower than the worst marks given to former President Joe Biden during his term. Overall, 36% approve of Trump’s job performance while 59% disapprove, the widest gap Trump has faced during either term. Among Republicans, 22% disapprove of Trump’s handling of the economy, and the share who strongly approve dropped to 53% in June from 61% in April. More than three-quarters of Americans say gas prices strain their budgets, even as average prices have fallen about 40 cents a gallon from a month ago. The survey of 1,340 respondents was conducted June 8-11 and has a margin of error of +/- 3.0 percentage points. This is a single-source report from NPR.
