The New York Knicks, NBA champions for the first time in 53 years, drew over a million people to their first-ever ticker-tape parade in lower Manhattan’s Canyon of Heroes, according to reports. The floats carried team stars like Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby, Karl Anthony Towns and Josh Hart, as well as Mayor Zohran Mamdani and celebrity fans including Chris Rock, Spike Lee, Timothee Chamalet and Fat Joe. Fat Joe brought a large group of performers, including Mary J. Blige, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Remy Ma, Jadakiss, Ja Rule, Teyana Taylor, Yung Miami and members of the Wu-Tang Clan, turning his float into a concert. DJ Ted Smooth, who served as the DJ, said the group had three hours worth of songs prepared and gave the crowd about 90 minutes of hits. The set included songs such as “Real Love,” “Lean Back,” “Triumph,” and “New York,” among others. Joe also shot scenes for a video of “Victory Lap (Him),” featuring Jadakiss and Yung Miami. The parade concluded with a ceremony hosted by Mamdani and a performance from Alicia Keys, who sang “New York State of Mind” and “Empire State Of Mind.”
