10 Canadian Animation Projects to Track at Annecy 2026

According to a Variety report, Canadian artists and studios are set to present 10 projects at the Annecy Animation Festival, including indie shorts, arthouse features, and 3D family-friendly blockbusters. Among the highlighted works is "Tangles," which had its world premiere in Cannes and features a cast including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Abbi Jacobson, and Bryan Cranston, with Seth Rogen among cameoing talents. The National Film Board of Canada brings Catherine Lepage's short "Ultra Strong" to the official competition, featuring original music by Régine Chassagne and a special appearance by Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson. "Snoopy Unleashed," a spin-off from the 2015 "Peanuts" movie directed by Steve Martino, is slated for 2027 on Apple TV. Other projects include "The Shiatsung Project," "Virgin Fandango," "Invisible Harvests," and "What We Leave Behind," all set to screen at the festival.
