Prime Video Expands APAC Entertainment Hub Strategy, Executives Say
Prime Video is pursuing a strategy to become a unified entertainment destination across Asia-Pacific, according to executives speaking at the APOS conference. Gaurav Gandhi, VP of APAC and ANZ, described the region as a testing ground for a business model balancing local market needs with a consistent global platform. The company now works with more than 600 partners globally to create a unified viewing experience. In Japan, country manager Keisuke Oishi noted the platform’s 10th anniversary and expansion into sports and anime, including live boxing events that began in 2022 and have grown to 15 events. In India, director Shilangi Mukherji said roughly 60% of Prime Video India’s originals have returned for additional seasons, and the pandemic-era surge accelerated co-productions and franchise-driven content. The executives emphasized a focus on building a long-term entertainment ecosystem across diverse APAC markets.
