Thomas Tuchel’s path from Stuttgart bar to England manager
According to a BBC News report, England manager Thomas Tuchel worked at a bar in Stuttgart in the late 1990s before his coaching career began. The 52-year-old German, now tasked with winning the World Cup for England, had his playing career cut short by a knee injury that left him without insurance coverage for surgery. He moved to Stuttgart to study business administration and found work at the Radio Bar in the Radio Barth building, a venue that became a hotspot for Germany's hip-hop scene. Tuchel started collecting bottles and glasses before progressing to table-waiting and serving cocktails. In 1999, after hearing his former club Ulm had been promoted to the Bundesliga during a bar shift, he left the job and accepted a youth coaching position at VfB Stuttgart, offered by Ralf Rangnick. Tuchel later became assistant to youth coach Hans-Martin Kleitsch, who described him as "the man with the X-ray vision" for his analytical abilities.
