Amazon to show AI-generated product images in search results

6 reported

Amazon announced on Wednesday that it will display AI-generated images of products within its shopping app based on users’ search queries, according to a TechCrunch report. The feature is designed to help customers who may not know the right term to describe a product, such as “cowl neck” for shirts or “rattan” for furniture. When a user enters a search query, they will see a variety of AI-generated product images below their autocomplete suggestions. For example, searching for a blue gingham dress might show dress styles with short or long sleeves and varying lengths as visual options. Clicking one would direct the user to search results that better match that style, powered by Amazon’s visual search capabilities. The feature follows other AI integrations by Amazon, including AI-summarized customer reviews, AI-generated “shoppable collages,” and the replacement of its Rufus AI chatbot with Alexa for Shopping earlier this month.
