NASA behavioral health scientist describes daily work on Artemis research
Dr Suzanne Bell, an organizational psychologist who leads the Behavioral Health and Performance Laboratory at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, described her daily routine and work in an interview published by The Guardian. Bell serves as principal investigator for Artemis research focused on crew health and readiness, collecting data from the Artemis II crew. She noted that the human research program funding the work requested a briefing on a quick turnaround about what needs to be addressed before Artemis III. Bell said her team is working on sustained lunar presence and setting up a moon base, with data already informing how it should be built. She reported that she did not take a lunch break on the day described, instead grabbing a salad on the way to a meeting. Bell said she leaves the office around 5 p.m. to prioritize being available for her two children, ages 13 and 15, and goes to bed by 9 or 9:30 p.m.
