NASA has released four images of deep space from the Chandra X-ray Observatory to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, according to a July 4, 2026, announcement from the observatory. The collection features an exploded star, a stellar nursery, a galaxy where stars are rapidly forming, and a galaxy cluster that provides evidence for dark matter. The images are presented in red, white, and blue colors. Alongside the images, NASA also unveiled three new sonifications that transform astronomical observations into sound. The collection combines data from Chandra with observations from other telescopes.
