Poll shows majority disapprove of Trump’s economic handling

8 reported

A new NPR/PBS News/Marist poll finds that only one-third of Americans approve of President Trump's handling of the economy, a figure three points lower than the worst marks given to former President Joe Biden. Overall, 36% approve of Trump's job performance while 59% disapprove, the widest gap of his presidency. The survey of 1,340 respondents was conducted June 8-11 and has a margin of error of +/- 3.0 percentage points. Among Republicans, 22% disapprove of Trump's economic handling, and the share who strongly approve dropped from 61% in April to 53% in June. More than three-quarters of Americans say gas prices strain their budgets, even as average prices have fallen about 40 cents a gallon from a month ago. The poll was taken before the announcement of a U.S.-Iran agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
